RESUME     PORTFOLIO

Hi, I'm Megan Taylor.

I arrived in New York City hot, sweaty and starry-eyed from Florida in September 2008. I immediately fell in love with snow. Six months later, summer followed me to the city. Argh.

Turned out, the recession was following me around too. The disappointment and frustration of the past 2 years has faded, to be replaced by hope. Finally, I am in a position to go after the job I want, instead of just whatever would pay the bills.

This is that job.

OK, so it's not my dream job. But until someone offers me $1 million a week to build web applications and drool over data, I'll call it a huge step in the right direction.

As a producer at WNYC, I won't just be copying and pasting text files into a content management system for 9 hours straight. (Yes, I did this.) Based on the job description and the reputation of WNYC, I think this this job will take full advantage of all my skills and creativity.

I like to think I have a lot to offer, being reasonably smart and Web-savvy on top of a good journalism foundation. But I'm sure I'm not an expert on everything and WNYC offers me not only employment, but also the opportunity to work toward becoming the kind of journalist I aspire to be.
